The L 1100 was a light-duty platform truck which was produced from early 1936 until 1941. As indicated by the name, the model had a maximum payload capacity of 1,100 kilogrammes, or 1.1 tonnes. The vehicle was available with either a 45 horsepower petrol engine, or the four-cylinder OM 138 diesel which produced an equal amount of power. Little information about the L 1100's petrol engine is available online, but it is highly plausible that it used the same 2.2 litre six-cylinder unit from the 1.5 tonne L 1500. An ambulance variant was also an available configuration. The L 1100 was the lightest truck in the 1930s Mercedes commercial range, and a modern vehicle with the same payload and gross weight ratings would be considered a van.
